Encinitas is located north of Solana Beach and south of Carlsbad.  Encinitas includes the areas of Leucadia, Cardiff, and Olivenhain.  Encinitas was incorporated in 1986 but development began long before that and boomed with the opening of El Camino Real and Interstate 5.
