Located south of Chula Vista and east of Imperial Beach is South San Diego.  South San Diego is separated by the rest of San Diego by the cities of Chula Vista and National City.  However, a 400 ft wide boundary lane passes through the San Diego harbor connecting South San Diego to the rest of San Diego.  South San Diego was annexed in 1957.
